I have travelled around the world and have always been fascinated by other cultures’ approaches to everyday problems. I am interested particularly in healing arts – I’m a practitioner of Reflexology and Reiki, and have attended a weekly yoga class for close to a decade.
I express these interests through sculpture, acrylics, and wax art mediums. I have taken courses and workshops throughout Canada and the USA, and always strive to incorporate new techniques and ideas in my work. I am unafraid to try new areas of art, experimenting with new processes and building on my initial, not always so successful, attempts.
Case in point: I have recently started to learn the art of soapstone carving, as you can see in the photo of me in action on the Home page. Just this past summer, I took a copper sculpting course from a renowned Calgary artist. So come back to see the results of these new endeavours in the near future.
I have been a member of the Art Society of Strathcona County for a few years now. I look to the Art Society as both a learning resource and as an outlet for my artistic creations. I have often delved into the realm of metalwork in various forms, and I’m starting to incorporate that material into my paintings. Recently, two pieces in my new Metal Infusion series were selected by Strathcona County for their permanent art collection.
My go-to art medium is acrylic, and I tend to use that as a background somewhere in my projects. As well, my latest works (there are several series) were created with a new (yet centuries old) process using oil paints and waxes that I am continuing to learn to create some amazing art work. Click on the Oil and wax category at the bottom of the page to see all of them.
